FINE ROMAN PROSTITUTE'S RING, C.100-300 AD, SIZE 1 ¾ 10/29/2024 2nd-5th century ADGilt bronze, size 1 3 4 for the small finger as was the custom. Rounded face band with the thickened bottom in the Roman taste, 2. 3mm width. Stepped and expanded edge bezel with the center of pyramid form superficially imitating a gemstone and blatantly advertising the intentions of the wearer. Roman prostitutes were typically adolescents, largely slaves. Prostitution was practiced openly with brothels sometimes sharing doors with libraries.
